Why it looks like this
Clear resin, real light
- 01
Light passes right through
The resin is translucent and coloured right through, so the base's cool white LED shines up through the fruit and lights its amber from the inside. Switched off, it still shows its colour in room light.
- 02
Glass-like up close
Every fruit is pressure-cast, then buffed, polished and given a glass-like clear coat, so the ribs and spirals read cleanly from any angle.
- 03
Protected, shipping to shelf
It travels inside its 80 mm acrylic case in a display box, and the same case keeps dust off once it's on the shelf.
Craftsmanship
Made to be looked at
The shape
Ribbed, ringed, unmistakable
The Suna Suna no Mi is the fruit Crocodile ate, and its ribbed body, lined with small spirals and with a curved lobe on either side, is what makes it recognisable. Ours is pressure-cast in translucent amber resin, so the colour runs right through it rather than sitting on the surface, and it still looks right on a shelf with the light off.
The finish
Buffed, polished, clear-coated
After casting, each fruit is buffed, polished and given a glass-like clear coat. It sits inside the 80 mm acrylic case.
The Light Base
Slim, black, made to link
The Light Base is a slim 11 mm slab of matte black. The case drops into a groove in the top, so only a narrow ledge shows, and "EVIL FRUITS" is engraved into the front ledge. A single cool white LED sits flush beneath the fruit, so the amber glows from inside. Magnetic connectors on each side let you link extra bases in a row as your collection grows. One power cable runs up to 10 linked bases.
